Ron DuPratt Ford - Air Conditioning

Diagnosing the cause of problems with your air conditioning system can be extremely complicated. Because of this, your best choice is to consult our certified Ford technicians if you think you have an issue with any part of your air conditioning system.

The balance between your vehicle's air conditioning and heating system outputs regulate its interior temperature, and the comfort level, for you and your passengers. These systems are collectively known as the HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) system and when they don't work properly, your driving comfort is compromised.

Air conditioning works by pulling heat from your vehicle's interior air by passing it over an evaporator. The evaporator contains a low pressure liquid that gets cold and cools the air as it flows over it.

When you have trouble with your air conditioning system, our Service Advisors will discuss the symptoms of your problem with you. Then our factory-trained technicians visually inspect all parts of your air conditioning system belts and components for damage or cracks. Next, they check to see if the air conditioning compressor is functioning correctly. If our technicians detect any leaks or damage anywhere, they will take the steps necessary to repair the system. Our technicians then will evacuate the refrigerant from the system, test it, and recharge the air conditioning system using the appropriate refrigerant specifically designed for your Ford model.

Other discount service garages advertise that they service air conditioning systems when in reality, they only recharge systems. At Ron DuPratt Ford, we fix your air conditioning system if it needs repair.

There are several common problems that you can experience from your HVAC system. For air conditioning, the liquids (refrigerants) that work to cool the air must be kept under pressure and some key parts might need replacing. This includes the compressor, condenser or evaporator. On occasion, the cooling compounds themselves has to be refreshed in order to keep the air conditioning working properly. We refer to this as an AC recharge.

A survey of repair shops across the country conducted by MSN Autos showed that system leaks are the most common automotive air conditioning problem needing repairs, accounting for approximately 70% to 80% of all air conditioning repairs. Leaks can occur anywhere in the air conditioning system, especially where refrigerant passes between system components. However, leaks are the easiest A/C problems to fix by replacing gaskets or worn hoses and costs can be minimized if your technician is experienced, trained specifically on the unique aspects of your particular Ford model.

At Ron DuPratt Ford, you can rest assured that our technicians are factory trained to quickly identify and repair your air conditioning problems. And since we use only genuine Ford parts and utilize diagnostic equipment calibrated for your particular Ford model, your repairs are made according to the specifications Ford engineers established, and not just to a "close-enough" measurement.
